For many parents involved in custody disputes the questions and concerns surrounding claims of Parental Alienation Syndrome (“PAS”) can be overwhelming. In 2009, Eric Solotoff, a Partner in our Roseland, New Jersey office, blogged about a US News and World Report article that addressed a movement afoot to add “parental alienation” to the next addition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (“DSM”). In a recent post Eric provides insight and commentary on the American Psychiatric Associations decision not to include PAS in the next edition of the (ie. Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) – the DSM 5. Both blog posts are informative and well worth reading.
